Bountiful Hope Foundation strives to support the marginalized citizens, primarily orphans, of Lesotho (within the context of their culture and faith) through education, community outreach programs and partnerships, vocational training, and economic development, all in the hopes of overcoming the effects of poverty and HIV/AIDS.

Bill Bierling - Director
Bill initially went to Lesotho in 2003. He, along with his wife Harriet, initiated a fund to provide education to high school orphans in Lesotho, which continues today as Bountiful Hope Foundation. In addition, Bill has assisted with the care of orphans through the Beautiful Gate Care Center in Maseru, Lesotho. He has also served as president of American Friends of Beautiful Gate, participated in seeking job opportunities for the unemployed in Lesotho, and in the development of business ventures in Maseru. Bill continues to travel to Lesotho to engage with local leadership in developing plans for the care and education of orphans. He is dedicated to bringing hope to the orphans in Lesotho through Bountiful Hope Foundation.
Bill continually lends his pastoral experience to Bountiful Hope Foundation. He has been a pastor for 50 years. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree at Calvin College and his Bachelor of Divinity degree at Calvin Seminary. He has a PhD from California Graduate School of Theology. In addition, Bill earned his Nursing Home Administrator license from the State of California and served as chaplain/administrator of an Intermediate Care Facility for the Developmentally Disabled. He also formed another non-profit organization - Care Ministry for Children with Special Needs - and has worked as a hospice chaplain, collaborating with hospice staff in preparing care plans for the dying. As the past president of Rotary International, he also has experience directing building projects in Tecate, Mexico.
Paul Trollinger - Director
Paul has a Master's degree in Business with an emphasis in finance from the University of Michigan. Paul also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin and a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Wyoming. Paul worked as a Controller for The Pillsbury Company for 6 years before pursuing a career as an educator. Paul has taught mathematics for the last 25 years, first at Wheat Ridge High School and then primarily at Cherry Creek High School. At both schools, Paul has served as Chairman of the Mathematics department as well as earning Teacher of the Year honors.
Paul spearheaded the formation of Bountiful Hope Foundation as a 501(c) and has served on the Board since inception. Paul's collaboration with the Good Shepherd Sisters in Lesotho has been instrumental in administering and growing the Bountiful Hope Educational fund as well as developing the concept of a Community Education Centre at the Good Shepherd Centre.
Cindy Trollinger- Director
Cindy has a Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. In addition, Cindy has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in Psychology and Communications. For the past 20 years, Cindy has worked in her own private practice as a licensed marriage and family therapist and as a certified addictions counselor.
Bountiful Hope Foundation would not exist without Cindy meeting Sister Constance Mosakeng in 2004. Sister Constance introduced Cindy to the needs of the orphans in Lesotho and she was the spark in starting the Education Fund for orphans. Cindy's personal experience and professional knowledge as a counselor has shown her that hope is a key aspect of human well-being. Because of this, Cindy brings unique gifts as a director to Bountiful Hope Foundation. Cindy's experience in developing retreats and interventions in order to begin the healing process for those who have experienced trauma and shame is a valuable resource as work with the vulnerable orphans of Lesotho. In addition, Cindy's warm and encouraging nature is a grace that brings people together, the fruits of which benefit the work of Bountiful Hope Foundation greatly.
Curt Spykstra - Director
Curt is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has over 30 years experience in a variety of clinical and managerial positions in non-profit, education, and for-profit settings. He has a dual Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science and Business Administration from Grand Canyon University and an Master's of Arts degree in School Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. Curt has worked primarily with low income families and children in various capacities - including intensive in-home counseling, outpatient counseling, and prevention/education services - having gained specialized knowledge and experience in college and career areas.
Curt has been on the board of Bountiful Hope Foundation since the beginning. His knowledge of social work is instrumental in helping implement and foster a support system for the BH orphans. Francis, one of the original BH orphans, was hired as a social worker for Bountiful Hope Foundation based on Curt's recommendations. Curt continues to be an important advocate for the orphans, giving them an effective support system that can help them succeed.
Support Team Members
Phillip is a graduate of UNC and has worked in the Education and Non-Profit sector for many years. He currently is working as an Educational Counselor with Denver Kids Inc. Phillip also owns an online Marketing Company called Robash Marketing. He is the proud father of two children ages 9 and 11. We are excited to have Phillip apart of the Bountiful Hope Foundation Team. He envisions helping Bountiful Hope with their online presence with a focus on Facebook. He hopes to engage potential donors and spread the word about the wonderful work that the BHF is doing. Welcome Philip!
Joshua has been passionate for Lesotho, Africa for over a decade. He has made several trips to Lesotho and lived among the Basotho people with his wife Mikki for several months. Joshua gained valuable experience interacting with the Basotho people, especially the orphans, and Joshua brings valuable insight to the Board. Joshua has traveled extensively and says “ I have come to see how big the world is, how we are all connected, and how it is so important to be there for one another”.
Recently, Joshua completed an online Nonprofit Grant Writing Certificate from the University of Notre Dame. He assists Bountiful Hope Foundation as a Volunteer Fundraiser, helping brainstorm various ideas that will further promote awareness of the needs, especially school tuition, that face the orphans of Lesotho. When Joshua was asked what can be done to bring hope to the most vulnerable ones in the world, he said, “small things, a smile, a small donation, anything done with a heart of love can help change everything!”
Bountiful Hope Young Adult Council
Luke Spykstra is a Senior at the University of Colorado, Boulder studying History. Luke visited Lesotho during high school and that trip fueled his passion to assist the vulnerable orphans. He hopes to empower orphans, as well as schools and businesses in Lesotho. Specifically, he is passionate about connecting Lesotho entrepreneurs with the micro loans necessary to start and maintain a business.
